Organization’s History

Forensic Nurse Examiners of Louisiana (FNE) consists of forensic nurses, with oversight by our medical director and Caddo Parish Coroner, Dr. Todd Thoma.  Our singular goal is to provide quality forensic evaluations to victims of sexual assault or violence.  Forensic Nurse Examiners of Louisiana Inc. was formed as a non-profit entity in December 2005. FNE provides training of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), or now commonly referred to as Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners (SAFE). The primary mission of FNE is to obtain an unbiased collection of forensic evidence from victim of sexual or domestic violence.

It is the philosophy of Forensic Nurse Examiners of Louisiana, Inc. to use a “victim centered” approach applied to the care of each patient and examination performed.
